I don’t know about you but I find job postings intimidating.
They always seem to include too much information to the point where one can get overwhelmed by the minutia of the tasks required. Never mind the habit of being written like the legal requirements of using an app.
Now I happened to look at a posting for a Marketing and Promotions Coordinator at IGNITE “a non-profit organization, and the official student union representing more than 30,000 full-time students of Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber.”
I was impressed.
The job posting was clear and neatly laid out. My eyes did not swim in reading it. When I went to the website, again, it was clear and neatly laid out. But what really got me was the contact directory page. Here is a sample listing:
Natalie is responsible for the strategic direction of the Communications department and oversees all aspects of marketing, public relations and digital communications.
This tells me all I need to know. Spelling out the job description is a little thing but it makes so much of a difference.
So while marketing is not my area, this tells me that IGNITE is on the right track. And as I update my blog design and LinkedIn page I will let them provide light to my own online vision.
